From the man who dreamt up Monster a Go-Go (1965), The Giant Spider Invasion (1975) scurries in its contrails. Jumbled, inane, flat, Invasion reads like stereo instructions. Infidelity, comic relief, the plot, none of it is real. Just words spit out by the cast. Steve Brodie, Barbara Hale, Alan Hale Jr, the familiar faces soothe nothing. No one holds your attention. The spiders aren’t any better. Infomercial or The Hollywood Squares? MRxL, Wild Flowers, Evil Super Consciousness, Sugar and Caffeine, Underwear, Watching The Movie Again. “Hey it’s in color!”, “Hey it’s a Giant Spider Invasion of savings at Menards”, “Wow, starring Alan D’Oh Hale!” “Gillett! The best a man can get!!!” or “And now we’ll pass the collection plate”?
