Anyone notice the shadows at the bottom of the screen?

I’ve noticed that in many Joel-era episodes, there is a shadow at the bottom of the screen that changes shape in parts and appears to be commenting on the movie. I’ve also seen it in the KTMA-era, only it was smaller and didn’t move as much. Anyone else notice that? What other bottom of the screen shadows have you noticed?

I hate it when they talk during the movie.

The worst one is that reindeer.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I simply enjoy the MST3K Platform for Uninterrupted Vintage Films.

Every episode seems to have a shadow on the bottom of the screen. It looks kind of like a row of theater seats, plus a human and a couple of weird robots sitting in some of those seats.

Are you kidding me? That’s on the episodes? I’ve thrown out six television sets thinking they were faulty.

They’re called letterboxes, but I miss the old pan and scan. It’s like they put the bottom part of my movie back!

I think those are actually holes in the film. I remember during the SciFi channel era that sometimes you could see Saturn through them.

I heard this in Mary Jo’s voice.

Is this the sequel to the Andy Gibb classic “Shadow Dancing”?
