Between Time and Timbuktu - Kurt Vonnegut! Bob and Ray! William Hickey!

Just came across this bizarre PBS TV Movie based on a bunch bits of Vonnegut short stories plus Bob and Ray improvising. None of the stories are complete, there are just bits and pieces. The Harrison Bergeron segment is closest to being complete. The Happy Birthday, Wanda June segment is like 5 minutes of the entire play/film. Apparently, Vonnegut had a very close hand in the film but that doesn’t stop it from being pretty cheesy. The video effects, groundbreaking for 1973, look especially silly.

The whole thing is available here:

Plot: A poet-astronaut is shot through an area of space called the Chronosynclastic Infundibulum. He is duplicated into infinite copies of himself, each of whom finds himself in a bizarre situations on a different world.

A few images:

Perpetual old man William Hickey as not old man Stoney Stevenson and The Blob/UHF’s Kevin McCarthy as Bokonon
