Boeing Starliner Flight

Sounds like a gremlin slurping helium through a straw.

NASA said the “pulsing sound” was feedback from an “audio configuration between the space station and Starliner” capsule.

NASA will provide live coverage of the upcoming activities for Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft departure from the International Space Station and return to Earth. The uncrewed spacecraft will depart from the orbiting laboratory for a landing at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico.

Starliner is scheduled to autonomously undock from the space station at approximately 6:04 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 6, to begin the journey home, weather conditions permitting. NASA and Boeing are targeting approximately 12:03 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, for the landing and conclusion of the flight test.

I dare y’all to play Space Travelers for the watchalong that night. I triple dog dare you!

10:24pm CDT: deorbit burn complete, service module jettisoned, capsule correctly oriented for reentry.

That’s it for the troublesome thrusters and helium leaks. The capsule has landed successfully twice before.

I do have to wonder how the astronauts left behind will feel if it lands with no issue. Some amalgam of “it’s good that Boeing might actually know what they’re doing” and “goddammit I could have gone home today!”

I was just saying the same thing to my husband. I want a safe return, but at the same time, I will completely understand the astronauts doing one of these:
