Completely Random Thoughts ...

All adult males of dad age in tv commercials are giant dopes.

I mean, ok, believable, but cripes, just stick a clown nose on them already.

Would that make Star Wars for Rush and Star Trek for Dream Theater?

I think Luke would be more of a Hawkwind fan.

Rush were big MST3K fans, to the point of thanking them in liner notes, but I can’t remember the album. Counterparts, I think.

There’s a theory going around (perhaps it’s been confirmed or just speculation) that Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington’s brilliant “On Cinema At The Cinema” is a loose parody of RedLetterMedia’s “Half In The Bag”, which Tim once made a guest appearance on early in its run.

RedLetterMedia, on “Best of the Worst”, features some of the same obscure movies and instructional videos as Found Footage Fest, who are also originally from the same region in the Midwest. Both troupes (allegedly) have a bit of a contentious relationship with one-another, but a story I’ve heard is that RLM attended FFF’s live shows in their early days. So, if this theory is true, there may be some FFF inspiration in BOTW.

Found Footage Fest is from the Midwest. Guess what show filmed in the Midwest? Mystery Science Theater 3000. And as I mentioned in another thread, Nick Prueher, who founded FFF with Joe Pickett, was an intern under Beez McKeever on MST3K and may have had some screen time as an extra.

Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett’s longtime friend? Mark Proksch, who starred in many of their early projects (including as “K-Strass”, one of the greatest pranks in television history). Mark recently had a huge role on “What We Do In The Shadows” and was one of the notable cast members of the last few seasons of 'The Office". Mark also stars as a master impersonator in…Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington’s “On Cinema at the Cinema”.

Everything I watch is connected, I’m convinced of it.

(EDIT: Almost forgot that Patton Oswalt guest starred on RLM’s “Best of the Worst” as well, so that’s a second MST3K connection.)

Hulu sends me an email… “Subscribe for only $2.99 a month”

Wow, what a bargain, let me open that baby up and see the details…

(initiate sarcasm sequencer) Kardashians AND commercials, what did I do to deserve such blessings?

Yeah, you should have quit at $2.99, neither one of those are big selling points. It might as well have read “Poke in the eye with a red-hot iron!”

Hulu is merging with Disney+ anyway, so that seems like bad timing in the first place.

I’m not sure if this is amusing or depressing.

Wow, blessings indeed. It’s frightening to think how many people this will somehow appeal to. It should be reversed – Hulu will pay me to watch this. $2.99/month doesn’t even come close, not even $2.99/minute. Maybe at $2.99/second I could endure a few episodes.

No amount of money could get me to watch a Kardashian, and it sort of bothers me that others will watch them without being paid to.

It’s “Hawaiian Day” at my daughter’s school. She couldn’t care less, but when I was dropping her off, I saw a couple of boys wearing fake grass skirts. Isn’t that kind of offensive? They wouldn’t have a “Native American Day” where kids would come in wearing feathered headdresses and carrying tomahawks.
