I think it would enhance the sense of community. Possible?
You can see the user count buried in the menus: currently 4316.
It doesn’t show who is online though.
I dig this idea and will look into it, thanks!
Nice find! That’s a lot of MSTies!
Wow! We have shot up to 5,408 members! Must be that invite tucked into the backer survey.
Update: 7,403 now! I love it!

Discourse has a “who’s online” plugin that would address this; depending on how you have the forum hosted, it could be anywhere from trivial to impossible to add it to this instance.
But to see how many users there are, just go to:

I run a couple of Discourse forums myself, so know a few of the tricks.
We’re getting close to 10,000 users now!
Currently 9,180.
Oh my GOD - we need an updating counter for this, yesterday.
If we have proven anything during the KS campaign, it is that MSTies love watching numbers go up!
Wow—they must be coming from the reward survey. Now we’re cooking!
Almost 2k new members in about a day… We don’t just need a counter, we need a separate website with analytics. A count-traq of some sort.
It can’t keep going at that pace, can it?
Remember, we haven’t even opened the doors on the Gizmoplex!
There were what? 38,000 KS pledgers? I’d say we’d be good with about half of those joining the forum.
19,000 would be quite a community!
