So many good ones on the 2nd disc of that box set. Big Bottom by Spinal Tap is a favorite of mine.
I’ll also die on a hill and say that his cover of Let’s Spend the Night Together is better especially since Aladdin is my favorite Bowie album.

That entire soundtrack was amazing! It took me 6 years to track down a legit CD copy of that album and it was WORTH IT.
This couch I found on the side of the road outside a frat house after it rained is better with the slip cover.
This is technically a cover, even though it’s a duet between George Michael and Elton John. My favorite version of the song.
Excuse the corniness, but I swear this disc might have saved my life at one point. I just played it over and over to slay a sizeable number of persistent personal demons:
It’s a crime that Bey never became a star when so many lesser talents did. He’s simply amazing.
Well, maybe it’s not better…
Yeah, it is.
We were lucky enough to have seen them, twice.
A-Freakin’-MAZING.
I may, or may not, have a Gigantor sized crush on Mr. Doyle’s hair.
Nobody should have to hear Wynona Judd’s “Freebird” ever again.
Except those of us who weren’t aware of it before now, and need to hear it to find out what we’ve been missing.
Oh, my God, it’s like the video in The Ring.
While we’re on the subject, can we put a stop to the breathy gothy versions of '80s pop songs they use for movie trailers?
Apparently not.
OFF-TOPIC!!! These are filks not covers!
You sound jealous.
As long as we can keep the snarky goth cellist versions of '60s rock songs used in a TV series. (Wednesday, Netflix, scene here).
(Such “covers” aren’t necessarily better, but they can be quite fun in a “the right people will get this” sort of way. HBO’s Westworld was/is notorious for occasionally, semi-stealthily dropping in instrumental rearrangements of popular songs as incidental or background music. Two examples: here and here.)
This past (sadly final) season, it was “Enter Sandman.” And I remember “Black Hole Sun” from season 1.
Not a thing wrong with the Jimmy McCracklin original, but I’m afraid this version of “Georgia Slop” will forever be my favorite:
The horns come out so strong and never let up. This is fresh black coffee for a tired soul. <3
