Do You Buy Episodes on the Gizmoplex?

Like the Kickstarters, I consider buying episodes helping out. The Gizmoplex is the new home of MST. Owning episodes is another way to back. Every month I buy 2 episodes. Just to keep it going. Classic Episodes usually. Joel or Mike. One month I bought Season 12. Occasionally I’ll forget and then I’ll binge $40-$100’s worth. I want this to be self-sustaining. I’m already a backer and getting Season 13 but I wanted to do more. Owning a bunch of shows seemed a perfect place to start. Making the Gizmoplex my own and always having access felt a no-brainer. If MST is to fly, it will take every angle and all of us to make it happen. Revenue from passes, building our libraries, ad revenue, word of mouth, crowdfunding, all of it. Are you buying episodes? And if so, is it a regular thing?

I haven’t because I’ve been too occupied with the new episodes… but I certainly plan to.

As far as I can tell there are only two episodes that are available that I haven’t gotten as part of the digital episode packs I’ve bought as part of the crowd funding for the past couple seasons and I will definitely be buying them.

Last year, I decided to purchase this:

And to assure I have Gizmoplex access to all available episodes, I went ahead and got Season 11 and Season 12:

All money well-spent. If these helped to sustain The Gizmoplex, all the better!

As a Season 11 Backer, I already own The Return. I too bought the Season 12 bundle to go with 11 and 13. I figured Mac and Me (1988) and Lords of the Deep (1989) might go OOP one day and I wanted Final Sacrifice (1990) insurance.

Any episodes you want to buy on the Gizmoplex to avoid losing them later? Some of the Sci-Fi shows? Netflix? Comedy Central?

I keep hoping they’ll do a “Deal of the Week” with a slight discount. I would definitely buy regularly then.

I bought season 12 during the last Kickstarter so I could have them digitally outside of Netflix.

I would if I had money!

(not knowing what season 13 has in store is driving me nuts at this point.)

I’ve bought everything they have available. If they release any I had acquire alternatively, I’ll buy those too.

Yeah I’d like to get seasons 11 and 12 without dealing with NetFlix, but I can’t swing that cost right now. Not sure if they can put them “on sale” so to speak, but I’ll keep an eye out.

They were pretty reasonably priced during the 2021 Kickstarter (I know that does t help now). I think season 12 was $30, so about $5 an episode. I’m not sure how much season 11 was.

I have not purchased any episodes on the Gizmoplex yet, although I have been rounding out my physical media collection of Shout! Volumes. Vol. 25 just came in the other day, and I am watching Revenge of the Creature for the first time in years while I type this.

I definitely plan to renew my Gizmoplex membership when the time comes here soon. So, after I lay out the funds for that I may start picking up individual episodes there.

MST3K is the show I rewatch more than anything, so I’ve got everything that was ever released commercially on DVD or VHS, and a flash drive with low quality DAP recordings of the 11 unreleased episodes plus all the surviving KTMA episodes. So I am all set for MST3K binge-watching… just as long as I don’t lose my glasses in a tragic post-apocalyptic comeuppance.

That said, I’d probably purchase a higher quality version of Quest of the Delta Knights if it became available. I’m kind of disappointed that Shout has never released that one as physical media, but I guess they’re holding it in reserve in the hopes they’ll eventually be able to release set XXXX.

I bought Samson and the Vampire Women just before they released Treasure of Dracula.

Is there an easy way to see what episodes you don’t own?

If you go to the Gizmoplex theaters, you can sort by “owned” That will at least tell you what you have.

I didn’t support the first Kickstarter because I didn’t know about it, so I went all in on their Ultimate Collection and the other collections that filled in the gaps that they couldn’t technically sell, but could give as rewards.
