Episode Goofs

And no, I’m not talking the bloopers; that’s separate. LOL

No I’m referring to a time when you were watching the show and all of a sudden you noticed someone’s hat in the frame, or a piece of the background fell off, or something along those lines, but the show continued on as though it hadn’t happened. Have any of you seen something like that happen in an episode that was aired?

I was watching Mad Monster and realized at one point you could see Trace’s hat in frame during one of the host segments! And I think someone noticed, because they zoomed in slightly on the desk Joel stands behind so there’d be less chance of seeing something like that. Not sure why they didn’t re-shoot the segment, but maybe they didn’t have enough tape to re-film that day and so they had to go with what they had.

So, anyone else spot something like that anywhere? I’m curious!

Those moments are always so fun!! I think I remember that segment you’re talking about, I believe in a host segment compilation that I was watching. I think in the earlier episodes there were some instances of lines being spoken over, but maybe that’s more of a blooper. Or like hearing someone clear their throat!

Also, I feel like it was in Master Ninja I where Crow’s net fell off in the theater and he said “ow.” It’s nice to see everyone just roll with it! It’s charming, in a way.

Someone pointed out that in the foley host segment from Cave Dwellers you can see Crow’s mouth moving when they’re burning TV’s Madame. It’s not clear if Trace accidentally kept “voicing” Crow for the first few words or if it was supposed to be Crow operating the puppet.

I love that they worked around so many things, like various heads and limbs falling off, Crow’s head being a little too on fire, and Jonah fumbling with standees during Everyone Country has a Monster.

Was it The Crawling Eye where Joel pushes the commercial sign button but there isn’t one and just kinda slaps the desk?

That’s not a goof. They just didn’t have the prop yet.

I’ve not spotted it in ages, but at the beginning of one theater segment, as the host carries Servo into the theater, you see the puppeteer’s hand peek over the seat reaching up for the 'bot.

I have no idea what segment or episode, but I noticed it once.

I think everyone forgot by now, but this happened back when the episode Robot Wars was in preview-mode:

There’s the “Magic Things” host sketch from Pod People. As the camera is wildly zooming in and out, as the shot goes wide you can spot I think it might be one of the interns retrieving and tossing the banana.

lol I never see the visual flubs until after someone else points them out.

Don’t ever ask me how many times I’ve had to rewind Mitchell to catch that damn boom mike.

I caught the silhouette of Mike’s headset in the Creeping Terror watch party. Maybe because I watched it on DVD, not streaming.

I was watching Robot Holocaust last night and at one point Joel has to get up to fix the film after the Robot Men to the Moon film “broke” during the serial, and I spotted either his mike headset or his glasses (I’m not sure which) in silhouette as he moved toward Cambot.

During the Invention Exchange for Hercules, one of the Instant Karma packets (the third one IIRC) is visibly leaking.

In Women of the Prehistoric Planet at one point during the final host segment Joel accidentally pulls off Tom’s dome and J. Elvis kinda rolls with it, as does Joel. Not sure if it’s a goof, but it’s funny regardless.

On the subject of Mike’s headset: There’s this great Easter Egg in Prince of Space during that theater segment with Robot Mike. The puppet has a visible headset too!

Always amuses me whenever I see that.

Spotted a new one!

In The Black Scorpion, during a host segment, Gypsy is slowly turning herself into a giant scorpion and threatening to attack Tom and Crow; at one point the scorpion tail they tried to attach to the back of her head fell off as she rose up and tried to eat Tom. They continued on with no real reaction to the goof.

Time is almost always the reason. Plus they did everything in one take. So that might have been the ones with the least flubs. Think Cococobana scene in Goodfellas. The mobile in I Accuse My Parents or Gypsy singing. Amazing!

I had always interpreted that scene that Crow was voicing Madame

Oh Mike’s headset appeared so often that when he temporarily becomes a robot in Prince of Space you can see they gave the little doll Mike a fake headset in the theater.

EDIT I see that was already mentioned!

One of my favourites is in Bloodlust! where you can hear someone laughing (Mary Jo, perhaps?) during Tom Servo’s “toe jam” joke.

I know this isn’t exactly what you mean, but in Parts: The Clonus Horror, it sounds like Mike says “Dale Evans wants his shirt back” (emphasis mine). Here>> is a photo of said Dale Evans. I’m sure you all can see the error in the riff.
