Practically speaking, it’d be super-tough to bring Garth Williams’ incredible pictures to life on a a kids’ TV budget. But even then I remember feeling like they could’ve tried a little harder to evoke that aura.

It’s been many years since I read Chuck Jones’ two-volume memoirs, but I don’t even remember him mentioning this. Maybe he wasn’t impressed with it, either.

It feels like for all of Godzilla Vs. Megalon being underseen, Godzilla Vs. the Sea Monster is even MORE underseen and underappreciated.
I’m not saying Sea Monster is better, no; Sea Monster is a fun episode while Megalon is a masterpiece, but still…

I have both episodes, and I prefer Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster to Godzilla vs. Megalon, but they’re both good and both underseen simply because of the lack of official release.
My favorite segment is Joel going space mad. “We’ll build a tram off your upper lip…”
