MILES O’Keeffe!
Oh no! That’s too much O’Keefe! RUN!
Today is the 67th birthday of the man himself, Frank Conniff! Happy birthday, TV’s Frank!
Actress Lynne Marie Stewart is 76
but in our hearts she will forever be “the most beautiful woman in Puppetland”.
And still beautiful!
Bending the rules a bit for Dutch cyclist Fabio Jakobsen, who turns the ripe old age of 27 today. But he deserves a cheer for being here!
In the 2020 Tour of Poland, Fabio was engaged in a chaotic bunch sprint for the finish when he was run into by another cyclist and sent into the finish barricades. The barricades weren’t constructed properly, and Fabio suffered severe trauma, including basically caving in part of his face.
He spent 6 days in a coma while doctors reconstructed his jaw, cheek, and upper palate, then he underwent months of treatment for upper respiratory damage and traumatic brain injury.
Somehow, he completely recovered and returned to racing 8 months later in 2021. And he is still one of the top sprinters in the world (current European road race champion!) while being one of the sweetest and most thoughtful guys in the pro peloton.
So cheers to you, Fabio, and I’m glad you’re still here!
For a second, I thought this was about TV’s Frank. “Yeah, that spit curl has aged magnificently.”
Any of you who have already watched the Bridget & Mary Jo Rifftrax movie The Careless Years heard the theme song as performed by the still underappreciated jazz singer, Sue Raney. She is still alive at age 83.
She has had a long performing & recording career. In addition to the above movie, she also sang the theme to Wait Until Dark.
Here’s a seasonally appropriate tune from a 1960 album –
A hip take for all you Beatles fans –
She even got a guest spot on The Dean Martin Show!
He’s the first Doctor Who most of us in America probably remember, but he hasn’t regenerated just yet. Tom Baker is 89!
Bob Newhart is 94 today!
I remember a few years ago the Disney Parks blog posted a picture of Bob Newhart at Disneyland for the release of The Rescuers. He commented about what he was wearing in the picture. “I have been looking for that hat for forty years.”
Turning 72 today.
I felt really bad for Bob when Don Rickles died. They were closer than brothers.
Sonny Rollins celebrated his 93rd birthday today!
I know I’ve mentioned him before in this thread, but let’s bring him back out one more time, ladies & gentlemen, how about a birthday round of applause for the great Sonny Rollins!
I watched about half of South Pacific, spotted France Nuyen, and almost didn’t recognize her as she was very young. Looked her up to see if that was her film debut (it was) and read of her connection with Nancy Kwan (both were tied to the production of “The World of Suzie Wong”). In addition, they were both riffed on by various riff entities, and they are both 84 years old (Nancy is the elder by a month and a week)
So a shout out to France and Nancy
Okay, I just found out that France Nuyen was born in France and now I question her parents.
Do you question them, or do you accuse them?
Not his birthday or anything, but I wanted to give a shout-out to veteran character actor Robert Costanzo, who’s 80 years old. While he’s been in many movies and TV shows over the years, I don’t think it’s overstating things by saying that, to a certain generation, his best, most notable role is as Detective Harvey Bullock on Batman: The Animated Series.
