Alas!
Oof. I never watched Newhart but in everything I saw Bob in you could just tell he was a fun, funny guy.
It works better in comedy than drama. In my opinion, anyway.
How many times was Mrs Webb mentioned in a riff? I think they mentioned her in The Beatniks, but I think there may have been other times.
Doing a quick look at the Annotated MST site, they did one in Crash of the Moons and The Brain That Wouldn’t Die (now I want to watch them again, to see the context, but I can imagine where and when they used it for Brain).
Searching Bob Newhart pulled up several more - they liked Bob it seems.
The Jade Fox has passed away.
Well hell, this is turning into a crappy night… one of the great ladies of early martial arts pictures. I named her one of my 5 favorites in an older thread…
Love this. RIP.
No more Norm, no more Bob. The world is worse off.
I learned a lot from him.
I think we can be forgiven for missing this one, but Frank Larrabee, aka The Fish-Lipped Guy who sang “California Lady” in Track of the Moon Beast, died on July 7.
The Four Tops are finally reunited in Doo-Wop Heaven as Abdul “Duke” Fakir, the last original member, has died at the age of 88.
The Four Tops are my favorite Motown band. When I was in the 8th grade I had a tape (recorded off the LPs) that had The Four Tops’ Greatest Hits on one side, and INXS’s Kick on the other side, and I listened to it every day on the bus to school.
RIP, 4T.
Absolutely loved The Four Tops. Their records of course, but also their performance with the Temptations in the “Battle of the Groups” segment in the Motown at the Apollo special from the '80s.
John Mayall, leader since 1963 of the Bluesbreakers, has died at 90. His band spawned the nuclei of such groups as the Yardbirds, Cream and Fleetwood Mac. He was voted into the rock & roll Hall of Fame this year.
He also played a supporting role in the RT movie Sunset Strip.
WHY is it 15 minutes?!
