Michael Reaves, arguably best known for his award-winning work on Batman: The Animated Series, has died. (edit: updated with a working obituary link).
I’d seen the name before, but to me, what put Michael Reaves in my pantheon of great animation writers was his work on Disney’s Gargoyles. While Greg Weisman created the show, Reaves served as the head writer and story editor, so a lot of the tone of the show came from him.
But he contributed to just. SO. Darn much. He-Man. Spider-Man. Dungeons & Dragons. The Smurfs. One could argue that he had a hand in literally writing out my childhood.
This one hurts.
