just wondering. Forgive me, but I am a newbie to this forum and I have a need to know about any relationship between Crow T Robot and basenjis. I asked Crow himself, however the answers are certifiably made up and therefore unreliable. Their appearances and personalities are strikingly similar. Any thoughts or comments would help put my mind at ease.
Uh, no. Crow looks the way he does because he was assembled out of spare parts into something that looks vaguely humanoid? Also, don’t trust anything those AI say; they don’t come equipped with fact checkers.
As a former owner of a Basenji-Chihuahua, I can tell you that Crow has zero basenji qualities.
If anything, he’s supposed to be kind of bird-like. His beak is made by cutting a bowling pin in half. His chest is Tupperware. The net, I believe, is a baseball catcher or hockey goalie mask. Arms and legs are desk lamp stands.
The bots were all thrown together out of whatever was on hand the night before they needed to film the first KTMA episode. Servo was rebuilt partway into the season, but Crow is still pretty much the same.
Any resemblance to a dog is, I’m fairly sure, entirely coincidental.
Unless he and Tom are playing Dog and Bear.
Try “Proud Prancing Reindeer” or “Rutting Stag” or something!
Except that in the one instance we have documentation of, Tom was the dog and Crow was the bear.
And then they got new puppets when the show went to cable!
Who says they never switched it up?
Well, now that we’ve cleared that up, is there any truth to the rumor that Growler is based on beloved character actor Abe Vigoda?
Growler hasn’t had a decent B.M. in weeks.
That is why I referred to the only instance we have documentation of. I can’t speak for any of the other times they played the game.
perhaps the chihuahua mellowed your dog out. Basenjis are renowned for being snarky–hence the resemblance to Crow.
I believe you mean Jim Henson, actually.
Growler does have a very Rowlf-like voice and demeanor.
ETA: Maybe Growler is based on Mike Pipper.
Jim Henson is based on Abe Vigoda? How dare you suggest it, sir?
The nerve!
Basenji’s originate from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Crow T. Robot originates from Taiwan (probably).
No, that is definitely a picture of Abe Vigoda.
Nah, that’s definitely Sean Connery.
Why did you post your chat with Crow, then put a picture of him right underneath?
