I would think they have extras because of people who did not pay shipping. Maybe they could offer that stuff to the backers?

I’m assuming that the true extras (due to non-payment) will go on sale at some point in the future.
But first they have to get through shipping everything, and then they’ll have to deal with replacing things that didn’t arrive, arrived damaged, etc. There is probably some overstock to address that, but the items from people who chose not to pay will give them a larger pool to draw from.
