Fitting that the first full length experiment on MST3K is a puppet show. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, the joining of several TV episodes, Invasion of the Deep (1984) is a replay of the series Stingray. Hostages of the Deep, Emergency Marineville, The Big Gun, and Deep Heat are skinned and filleted into this fish fry of a movie. Lasers not rockets, Yellow Submarine, these marionettes plop where marionettes have plopped before. “They always dance as others walk!!!” “They talk while other men go on!!!” “They live in a world and sit around!!!” “They act like Pinocchio!!!” Thunderball (1965) with Dummies or Jonny Quest? The Guys From The Station, Man Eating Plant, Flower Sickness, Reptile Thermometer, Whole Lotta Love. Popcorn chewing, drinking a large soda, alone in the theater. “Just a low budget island” or “What a combo”?
