Literary Riffs

“Oh, great, now they’re in Schlachthaus Fünf.” from The Slime People

My bad, I mistook the literary part for any type of riff from an episode.

You want the “Out Of Context MST3K Quotes” thread. Just around the corner. You can’t miss it. (Oh, and what the kids used to call a “Life hack”: you can use the Search :mag: function of “quote in this topic” to make sure your favorite quote hasn’t already been posted a bunch of times. )

During the sentient pizza scene, Jonah says, “Munchie’s Paw.”

Pretty sure that’s a nod to the old timey horror classic, “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs.

But yeah, mainly references to books, stories, plays and the like.

Charles Bukowski is name-dropped in one episode which escapes me at the moment, but is also in Village Of The Giants during Opie’s science failure after the theft:

“Goin’ into Charles Bukowski’s sink!” :worm:

Something of a two-fer. Since they mention Cthulhu just a minute before.

That would be Girl in Gold Boots:

:musical_note: “Charles Manson walks the streets,
The Zodiac killer’s at large!
Charles Bukowski is pukin’ out the window
And Santa Claus is on his wayyy!” :musical_note:

I think there’s also one in reference to bad decorating. “…decorated this place, wiv’ 'is VOMIT!!”

But I can’t remember which episode. :o

There’s a really clever one in The Deadly Bees:

Mike: Wonder whose woods these are?
Crow: Oh, I think I know.
