The TV ads and radio ads almost always had booming, portentous announcer’s voices and lots of slo-mo, too. Colds were Serious Business. But the “Hundreds and Thousands” (thanks, Britain) spilling colorfully out of the opened capsule looked cool. We didn’t use this stuff at home, though. My folks didn’t believe in any cold remedies apart from aspirin, cough drops, and chicken soup.
