RIP Sonny Chiba

Sonny Chiba, legendary martial arts star and known to MST3k fans for his very first acting role as Space Chief in Invasion of the Neptune Men, has passed away from COVID complications at age 82. I have to admit, I haven’t yet seen most of his work, so I’ll leave it to others to discuss the various merits of them. After looking at this thread: Does anyone else recall a riff that seemed to have disappeared? Whether by changing cuts, Mandela effect, or spring sprites, a riff that you vividly remember that just up and vanished upon later airings/recordings? A couple of things I had reactions to: Name - So my real name is displayed quite prominently, even though the site collected a username from me and the full name is optional. I would have assumed the username would be used on the forum. Other sites collect my full name, but only for their records; it’s not public. Having two names doesn’t help. They’re father and son (which I just learned), and it seems we owe them a lot! How many times have we heard one of the humans or ‘bots exclaim that, “THEY LOVE TO LAUGH, LONG AND LOUD AND HARD?” A bunch, right? Well, that—and the voice—was Ed Wynn, father of Keneen, whose lovable mug shows up in Laserblast and Parts: The Clonus Horror! I’m so excited to learn of these family ties! (Sorry if this is common knowledge, but it’s news to me, so I had to share!)

Why did my flair disappear?

What happened to the flair option? I used to have the green circle with the white K, then it went to just a green circle, and now I don’t even have the option for it (even though I see other people who still have flair). I kinda miss it.

To riff or not to riff

Hamlet may be the most divisive episode of MST3K. However, it can be argued that it simulates a true Globe Theater experience. It’s been indicated that the new season will have a Halloween special. So I thought we could speculate on the possibilities of other holiday specials and what movies to pair with them. So i have never played a pen and paper rpg but somehow my youngest daughter got interested in D&D. We bought her a little starter kit but she is having a hard time figuring the game out and I am not a whole lot of help. Old studio films reusing existing sets

Does anybody maintain a database of physical sets reused in various movies? I was watching John Ford’s “Long Journey Home” which mostly takes place on a freight ship and it looked exactly like the set used on Val Lewton’s “Ghost Ship” (great flick!). HOUSE ハウス 1977 Japanese Horror(?) Film

This movie is an incredible, bizarre, beautiful trainwreck. It was made by a guy who had previously only directed commercials and is based off a dream his young daughter had. Which bad movies do you get the most out of?

Part of what I love (and I know I’m not alone in this) about some of the movies like Future War or Final Sacrifice are that they were clearly made as “passion” projects with few resources. They Just Don’t Make Em Like They Used To

Some older movies make you go “Man, they just don’t make movies like they used to.” For example, tonight I watched Baz Luhrman’s 1996 Romeo and Juliet and one thing that stood out to me was the visuals of the movie. Overdone colors and costumes, opulent Catholic imagery juxtaposed with a dirty, crime-ridden city on the beach.
