I only found a couple of half-broken YouTube widgets, but I fixed them.
We got a few more missing images here:
Here is a story about how you should always wear MST3K merch and show off your love of riffing to help spread the word of #MakeMoreMST3K!
So, this is my car. As you can see, I’m sporting a RiffTrax bumper sticker, and well worn MST3K license plate frame, and the silhouette from ICWXP.
So I was driving down Colfax in Denver yesterday during my lunch. I pulled up to a stop light with my windows rolled down and the driver next to me calls out, “I just have one question.” I looked at …
Some other threads fixed earlier today:
I love Kung Fu films and have been collecting them for a long time and while there are many great ones out there, this thread isn’t about your 36th Chambers, Big Bosses or Drunken Masters. This is about the weird, wonderful and not so wonderful examples because some chop-socky flicks are really out there. The Brucesploitation sub-genre on it’s own is probably a thread in itself. I was originally just going to briefly go through some examples but instead I’ll highlight some of the more bizarre an…
[Best Of MST3K Hours.wmv]
Thought I’d show Mike some love. Some of my favorite mst skits involve Mike riffing on celebs etc. He was so gosh darn good at it. My pick of the litter is the really… really… horribly… old Jack Perkins there was so much comedy gold. What was your favorite?
Thanks! Also, should I find more threads for you guys to fix?
Yes, please—if you know of any, just post them here and somebody will get them taken care of.
I’ve been having a hard time finding much to fix, so hopefully that means we’ve gotten lots of them.
What we need is a way to sort threads by creation date…
The Great Image Purge was on 9/7 (I think), so I’ve been doing a search for threads posted in on or before that date:
Sonny Chiba, legendary martial arts star and known to MST3k fans for his very first acting role as Space Chief in Invasion of the Neptune Men, has passed away from COVID complications at age 82. I have to admit, I haven’t yet seen most of his work, so I’ll leave it to others to discuss the various merits of them. But his scene in Kill Bill is a real treasure, bringing a rare level of gravitas to the deliberately campy movie.
We’ve got some funny, creative, and intelligent people here, that all love this show. I figure, why not pool our minds together and collectively create our OWN episode of the show?
Whether or not it ever becomes an actual episode doesn’t matter. The point is the fun and the exercise of working with each other to create our own “fanfic” episode! It would also help us to get to know each other better!
So, here’s going to be the overall process:
You all throw out your own movie suggestions (let…
As I stated in this thread:
I’m working on a Desktop app to assist people to collaboratively “riff” together, create “Fanficisodes”, and export them in some sort of format, either just as a subtitle file, and/or a custom format that can be used by my future program to play back the Fanficisode.
I’m going to use this thread to chart my progress in making the program, as well as to elicit opinions from the community on what such an application should include.
For starters, I have a basic “temp…
I don’t know how many here were around back in the Usenet days of RATMM but Jean Jackson was an incredible artist who did mst3k themed artwork and seeing the Mindless Summer art made me think about her and some of her great work. She passed away a few years ago but she loved MST and loved when people appreciated her wonderful work.
I’m going to attach 1 of her works here. Gamera at the Vet, I am lucky enough to own a print of.
I’m also attaching a link to some background on her that has a link…
Tonight’s Mindless Summer livestream event begins at 5pm PT / 8pm ET on our YouTube and Twitch channels! Join us for a rousing chorus of “Tom Stewart Killed Me!” and discuss the stream in the thread below. Will you be watching?
I am looking for some good pictures of all the bots and figured that I’d ask everyone to share their favorites.
Don’t have a picture, but do have a favorite scene involving the bots? Please tell us what it is, and more importantly where we can see it ourselves!
Like it says in the title, what do you think are the best and/or most bizarre host segments in the history of MST3K?
I was wondering, what do all of you think would be some “nice touches” to put into the GIZMOPLEX? This would NOT be functional features, but nice ways for the announced features to be set up in a way that would pay tribute to MST3K’s rich history, memes, etc.
Every time someone enters an area, why not utilize a door sequence?
These can be a combination of classic door sequences (Seasons 1-12) or even new ones that are themed to the area the viewer is currently entering. Theore…
After looking at this thread:
Does anyone else recall a riff that seemed to have disappeared? Whether by changing cuts, Mandela effect, or spring sprites, a riff that you vividly remember that just up and vanished upon later airings/recordings?
I definitely recall a bit in “The Home Economics Story” where when one woman is holding up a vial, the riff goes “This is phlegm–” but swear it was followed up by her picking up another vial and the riff continuing, “And this is mucus.” In all tape…
I replaced my car a month ago, so I had to replace the stickers. Y’all wanna share some shots of stickers in action?
This week’s update is a little briefer than usual, as Ivan is feeling under the weather. Still, we’ve got some writing updates, plus presale info for the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh tour dates, and who will be at tonight’s Mindless Summer livestream of Tormented!
Tonight’s Mindless Summer livestream event features season 10 episode BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z, watched by Joel Hodgson, Jonah Ray, Nate Begle, Tim Ryder, and as always, our stalwart Matt McGinnis!
Got questions for the cast? Ask them below and we may include them in tonight’s event!
Sashay through the Sargasso with us starting at 5pm PT / 8pm ET on our
YouTube and Twitch channels. Hope to see you there!
PS: Don’t forget, for a limited time we’ve got MINDLESS SUMMER MERCH available!
A couple of things I had reactions to:
Name - So my real name is displayed quite prominently, even though the site collected a username from me and the full name is optional. I would have assumed the username would be used on the forum. Other sites collect my full name, but only for their records; it’s not public.
Having two names doesn’t help. Could we just use the username in the forums? And limit the full name to the profile page.
Avatar - MST3k has so much visual appeal, I was really disa…
Do we know what the MST3K moon is made of? If not, any fun guesses? (Be creative!)
I’ve watched most of the MST3K episodes over the years but my memories of a lot of them are cloudy at best. I’d love some recommendations on lesser-talked-about episodes and episodes you think are similar in some way. I always seem to enjoy episodes even more when they’re recommended to me or someone shares an interesting tidbit about them.
How about something along the lines of: “if you liked that episode, I think you’ll like this one!”
Here’s a couple of mine to start us off:
If you liked
I’ve always been a movie kid and once I found MST 3K something I loved to do was collect lists for possible future episodes.
When I was like 12 or 13 I even embarrassingly called Best Brains studio (trying to sound much older then I was) and asked how to submit movies for their considerations. God bless the patient woman I spoke with who explained about copyright and the films they could use.
After that call, like an idiot, I even wrote a letter addressing copyright free films and sent that in…
Sitting up late with a bit of food poisoning and reached for MST3K’s take on RING OF TERROR. It occurred to me that this isn’t the first time I’ve pulled that one out while under the weather. CRASH OF THE MOONS is another that gets frequent viewings at such times.
Which ones do you go to as “comfort food” when sick? Any special reasons why?
Hello! So, we have an extra set of tickets to the live show in San Diego. Row E, seats 6 and 8 (they are together). Would anyone want to purchase them for cheap? Like $40/ticket and none of those pesky Ticketmaster fees? Let me know or if you know someone that is interested, please point them my direction!
This is the place to offer feedback on your experience using Discourse, the forums system we are testing out as a possible contender for the MST3K community.
We are hoping that you, as a select group of testers, will come in here and experiment with Discourse and let us know what you do and don’t like about it.
You can use this post to offer broad general feedback. See the other posts in this category for ideas for other more specific areas.
They’re father and son (which I just learned), and it seems we owe them a lot! How many times have we heard one of the humans or ‘bots exclaim that, “THEY LOVE TO LAUGH, LONG AND LOUD AND HARD?” A bunch, right? Well, that—and the voice—was Ed Wynn, father of Keneen, whose lovable mug shows up in Laserblast and Parts: The Clonus Horror!
I’m so excited to learn of these family ties! (Sorry if this is common knowledge, but it’s news to me, so I had to share!)
What happened to the flair option? I used to have the green circle with the white K, then it went to just a green circle, and now I don’t even have the option for it (even though I see other people who still have flair). I kinda miss it.
While some films on Mst3k are near unwatchable without the riffing, some of them are very pleasing to the ears with their music. What’s your favorite score, soundtrack or song from a film on Mystery Science Theater 3000?
Noting the passing of Ron Popeil, the enterprising inventor/huckster whose creations would not have been out of place on MST3K.
I don’t recall ever owning a Ronco product, but there were so many it’s entirely possible that I did. How about you?
At the end of Carnival Magic during the Mads’ parade, there’s footage of an experiment (like Joel, Mike, and Jonah) but he’s wearing a purple jumpsuit. I haven’t seen all the episodes, so I may be missing something, but who was that?
Hamlet may be the most divisive episode of MST3K. However, it can be argued that it simulates a true Globe Theater experience. After all, theatergoers in Shakespeare’s day weren’t snooty dillweeds who wanted to believe that the plays were being written by Edward de Vere. They were regular folks like you and me looking for some quality entertainment. And if they thought they weren’t getting any, it’s reasonable to believe that they would heckle the performers and maybe pelt them with rancid produ…
There were some great incidental characters that either visited the mads or the SOL crew.
My top 3 are:
Pitch a devil (not THE devil)
Phineus Tiberius Mindslap
Krankor when he pays the SOL a visit
“Eggs” the pain leak inspector
What are the best riffs you’ve seen where it’s the visual effects of the hosts and the bots that really sell it?
This could be an Off topic thread but I’m trying to make it on topic anyway.
We just watched the launch here and I felt like speculating about what is likely to be added to the Moon 13 story of MST3K.
It’s a million dollar bungie jump. The second place show was better than Me First guy in the Great Space Race. Did the thrusters fire correctly on the landing craft? Is Moon 13 going to be REAL and when? Is my nephew the drumming space baby who gets Jonah’s fate?
It was also somewhat annoyin…
MST3K marathon definitely helping to ease the burden of a 12 hour road trip yesterday
We’ve launched this beta test with a handful of categories (“MST3K Central,” “Artsy Craftsy,” and so on), and while we don’t want to go TOO nuts with a million options just yet, we do want to hear from you if there’s anything we’ve missed. Is there a subject you’d like to discuss here that doesn’t fit in any of the current categories? Let us know.
@MisterScott and his famous post, from the speedrun the badges! topic, I have achieved heights never before seen by bot nor beast.

It’s been indicated that the new season will have a Halloween special. So I thought we could speculate on the possibilities of other holiday specials and what movies to pair with them.
Arbor Day has gotten some holiday special love from the Peanuts franchise, so why not MST3K? For that, I would suggest the 1990 William Friedkin film The Guardian. Go on Youtube and you can watch the two thumbs down review Siskel and Ebert gave it, which features the silliest flying scene since Pumaman.
For a bi…
For those who RiffTrax, you already know. For those who don’t, this is probably my favorite recurring riff outside of MST3K.
I’ve been keeping a list for years, but I don’t own everything of theirs (whether or not my wife believes that is up for debate). There are a few new releases I haven’t watched yet, and there is also at least one I can’t decipher so I’m hoping someone can help with GCNS #2 from Son of Sinbad. [EDIT: Fixed! Thanks for
@YettiChild for confirming this one.]

@marv and I come up to the anniversary of our project I will be sharing some of our favorite pieces. Frank & Trace did this short a few months ago but here is how we did it:

As always love to hear your feedback- subscribe & like if you want.
So i have never played a pen and paper rpg but somehow my youngest daughter got interested in D&D. We bought her a little starter kit but she is having a hard time figuring the game out and I am not a whole lot of help.
Anyone with helpful tips or online resources to walk a complete noob through getting a grip on this game?
Does anybody maintain a database of physical sets reused in various movies? I was watching John Ford’s “Long Journey Home” which mostly takes place on a freight ship and it looked exactly like the set used on Val Lewton’s “Ghost Ship” (great flick!). Looking through wikipedia, they say the “Ghost Ship” set was built for a 1939 movie called “Pacific Liner” but no other lineage. Anybody know of a way to track down multi-used sets?
I know the house in “Magnificent Ambersons” was used in a ton of m…
This thread is just for fun, and because MST3K is often associated with nostalgia. Post one thing you used to have in your childhood that you no longer have (or can get), and conversely one thing you now have (or can get) that you didn’t back then. Can be anything!
Used To Have: Danish Go-Rounds
Now Have: Derechos
Hey all! New to the Discourse, just received my survey this evening and joined this great community! Do we know of there is beer on the sun?
I just learned it’s Frank’s birthday.
Mr. Conniff, you probably won’t see this, but I wanted to wish you a happy, happy. You’ve given me and others years of laughter and joy. Hope it’s a great day for you.
To your health and happiness.
Big head! We’re talking big head!
This is our first short from September 2020. Let’s celebrate the 5th wave of the Pandemic with some 50’s advice!
As always follow us, drop a comment, like us if you want.
[Distance Learning: Sniffles & Sneezes]
This movie is an incredible, bizarre, beautiful trainwreck. It was made by a guy who had previously only directed commercials and is based off a dream his young daughter had. The characters all have bizarre names that sum up the single aspect to their character/personality: Fantasy, Sweet, Professor, Kung-Fu, Oshare (“Fashionable”, translated to “Gorgeous” in the English version), and Mac (which is short for the Japanese romanisation of McDonald’s. Because she’s “fat.” Well done.
Part of what I love (and I know I’m not alone in this) about some of the movies like Future War or Final Sacrifice are that they were clearly made as “passion” projects with few resources. As an aspiring writer and game designer, some of these bad movies are actually kind of inspiring to me. I will absolutely giggle my way through Future War when I feel like I’m not good enough and I need to remind myself that no matter how weird your vision or how small your budget, you can find other people …
I wanted to post this here because of Cinema Toast:
This show takes public domain film and dubs over it with a completely different story. That and some editing transforms the original. Also, it is very funny. At least what I have watched so far, which is the first episode. I need to see more, but I was impressed with the first one. The show gave me MST vibes, but it’s also something different.
So what shows, movies, books, games, etc would you recommend to your fellow MSTies as high qua…
Ok, I’m assuming the forums are going to get more active as more people clue in. I’ve been seeing a lot of those first-time-post signs.
Here’s an idea: when you see that someone has posted for the first time, follow what the little box above their post says and directly welcome them. You’d be surprised how much of a difference it makes when you actually hear the words from a person. Imagine that you are a shy, socially awkward person who is anxious about posting here, and your first post gets a…
Some older movies make you go “Man, they just don’t make movies like they used to.”
For example, tonight I watched Baz Luhrman’s 1996 Romeo and Juliet and one thing that stood out to me was the visuals of the movie. Overdone colors and costumes, opulent Catholic imagery juxtaposed with a dirty, crime-ridden city on the beach. It’s by no means a great movie but there’s always some intentional little detail for the eye to look at to add density to the setting. I notice a lot of 80s and 90s films …
Anyone going to the Cleveland area show?
I did level 150 which includes 5 Classic Episodes (+5 bonus ones). During the survey, I am offered an option to upgrade to the Deluxe version (10+10 bonus) for $30. It tells me to do this upgrade in the question and then remove the add-on later.
Here is the question:
Leaving it like this, I show this later:
If I do the upgrade though, I get this:
In both scenarios, this is the add-on section that I c…
https://forums.mst3k.com/t/favo-u-rite-robot-s-and-why/189 (this thread of mine’s been dormant for too long.)
And yes, I also included the
Mindless Summer thread to get the missing images back.
Weird, the Mods all quit, out of the blue, sudden like, I don’t know why?
BTW, among those linked above, you can ignore my Birthday thread for Frank, that’s just video, and all you have to do to reactivate video is to hit play. They are still there, nothing to restore.
Edit and I fixed the RIP Sonny Chiba post, using the “tag” trick
BTW, among those linked above, you can ignore my Birthday thread for Frank, that’s just video, and all you have to do to reactivate video is to hit play.
I rebuild videos when I spot them. No sense in having the video preview image missing.
I got, uh, some of those. I gotta cook dinner so
@MichaelRobertson will probably have the rest of them done before I get that into the oven.
A number of those were already done and posted further up the thread. Most of them should be fixed now—we’ll go back through them as time allows and see what we missed. I did not restore all YouTube thumbnails on my first pass since the videos still work fine without them but will catch the rest of those as I come across them.
Hopefully my self-restoration saved you some work.
Yes—thank you! There were several users who had restored most or all of their own images and that was a great help.
