“The Legend of Tillamook’s Gold”
Wow, that cast. Obviously going for the teenaged girl market.
Back then EVERY bobby-soxer had a framed picture of Jim Backus on her nightstand!
That was the year Frankie and DD took a break.
The title alone looks ripe for MST3K.
This may be more a “Can This Work To Be Riffed” one…mostly because of the effects being SUPER horrid…but it does have a connection to past MST3K. Not sure how humorous the tone of the movie is or not either. But still…
So they got James Best back AND they killed another Black guy!
If this gets riffed, I hope it prominently features cardboard cutouts of the current hosts while someone plays tinny tape recordings of riffs from the original movie’s episode.
This was on Svengoolie yesterday, and you’re right - it’s perfect. It’s on a free service called Fawsome (?!) if you want to take a look. Starts with a super serious Paul Frees intro you can find here. IIRC Jack Arnold was trying to do the science correctly, but it about as sciency as Mythbusters? BONUS: As @SandyFrank noted it a short enough run time to have wiggle room for solid host segments.
So, there’s a fellow in my local area who cosplays as Dr. Forrester, and I was chatting with him yesterday. He was carrying around a number of terrible movies, and one of them was this gem:
Da Hip Hop Witch (Video 2000) - IMDb
If this one hasn’t been done by any of the various crews, it may be a contender.
Not a movie, but…
It is glorious.
Has anybody noticed and/or mentioned that there is an Atlantic Rim 2? I thought for sure they’d have or try to get that for season 13 after the first one was in season 12, but I’ve not seen any mention of it on the forums at all. Anybody hear anything about this movie in reference to MST?
Lol. I think the only reason that they did the first one was because of pressure from the suits at Netflix.
Could be but that would be a bunch of bull butter if you ask me!
Thank you for letting me know about this. I bought it immediately.
This hasn’t been made yet, but from the description of it, it needs to be riffed.
If they ever start riffing film strips, this would be a great starting point
The fella that posted about this is looking for a Latina performer to help out in a live performance of IT’S A FILMSTRIP CHARLIE BROWN at San Diego Comic Con.
Considering that they far predated VHS cassettes and players, much less DVDs, projected monitors, and personal computers, do younger people (much less kids in school) today even know what a filmstrip is?
Based entirely off the title and trailer … thanks, @Chris_Gersbeck!
I’m probably in the minority, but I rarely see a movie and think “MST should really riff this movie”. No matter how bad the movie is, or how much it would fit into the MST oeuvre.
To me, it just seems like I’d be setting myself up for 90-ish minutes of “I would have made this riff” and “they missed this opportunity”.
