I love this Drive-In. I talk about this Drive-In. It is a movie Shangri-La. Like visiting film heaven run by enthusiasts. If you are remotely considering it, you should probably go.

If only it were just a couple of miles closer to Australia, I’d definitely consider it.

Anyone within 3-5 hours? Ought to consider it. The Mahoning is surrounded by open country. Imagine a Drive-In located in the Swiss Alps manned by the nicest people on God’s Green Earth. The Sound of Music is basically the backdrop. You add Joel and MST to this? Where do I sign?

A documentary on it.

Yeah. Lost Continent (1951) should have been one of the movies.

My drive is 18 hours. Round trip. It’s brutal. The Pennsylvania I-80 portion at times is two lanes at significant elevation. Vegetation, rain, the elements. Nothing like Pennsylvania.

Wow, that is a BOSS line-up of episodes!

Like- one of my top 5 for each host. (And number 1 for Emily, who doesn’t quite have a top 5 yet.)

The amazing part of The Mahoning are the people. Not only the folks who work there. But those who visit. Every weekend during the season is Riff Fest at a camp site. Many pay a little extra to spend the night there. Some in campers, some in tents, some in cars, some at the local hotel. Those who spend the night come and go as they please and have breakfast at the local diner. Many return before the Drive-In opens and pick their parking. A number of attendees are regulars and chat about movies and pop culture for hours. Mostly sitting in lawn chairs they brought with them.

Special Guests show up hours before showtime and those with extended passes can shoot the breeze with them. Often for extended periods. The atmosphere is pretty lax but heightens as the sky darkens and the movies begin to play. People pull out radios and adjust their chairs and watch everything on the big screen. It is a communal experience under the stars and one big happy family. I’ve gone 5 times and if it weren’t for commitments and expense it would be twice that.

Oh man… so tempted!

So… anyone bold enough to go and try to ask the big cheese directly what’s going on?

I would be so bold, but I’m not going to the event. Hopefully he will just address the elephant in the room on his own.

I will tell you that at the finale, I asked about any teasers or whatnot about season 14 and there was no REAL answer…couple jokes. AND that question was NOT featured on the final cut…so…I guess…nah?

Especially since this is literally being advertised as an “MST3K Ultimate Fan Event.”

Also, I’m definitely tempted by the Harryhausen animation in 35mm.

That’s super cool! I sure hope we get some news and/or closure regarding the status of the show.

And wow, it’s hard to pick four better episodes to display each host too, all four picks are rock solid classics in my book.
