MST3k The Board Game

What would a MST3k board game look like? What would you want to add? Can we crowd design a game or elements of it? What would you want to see?

Do not pass GO, do not collect RAM chips.

Honestly, if it’s a board game of some kind, I see it being some kind of version of Monopoly only the board would be shaped like the SOL.

Go would be Movie Sign! Jail would be Deep 13. Each of the railroads would be one of the hosts. Utilities would be Rocket #9 and Commercial Sign. Community Chest would be Ram Chips. Chance would be the Invention Exchange. Then, the different properties would be a selection of episodes from different seasons.

That’s what I got right now.

I think MST3K would make for a good themed Fluxx deck.

Or you could have a pursuit game, like Ludo, where one player has three Mads pieces (Pearl, Bobo & Brain Guy) that have to catch three SoL pieces (Mike, Crow & Tom) before they reach the screening room.
Add hazards and/or alternate routes based on the various designs from the show’s door sequence, and you could end up with something quite fun.

Not sure how feasible this would be.

But one of my favorite cinema experiences was when I went with some friends to watch one of the Godzilla movies, and we were the only people in the theater. We took turns doing improv riffs and it was hilarious.

I would love to see a model of a board game that isn’t just MST3K themed, but captured the magic of watching a horrendous movie, but having a blast doing so.

Maybe a party game format? I know there is a video game for RiffTrax, that basically is scoring riffs your friends make up, not exactly that… but something similar.

Instead of the four railroads, you’d have to have the four hosts.

Or four sandwiches. This -is- a very sandwich-centric show.

The goal is to see if there is beer on the Sun.

I actually put together a concept for an MST3K board game years ago, during the wait between the first Kickstarter and the Netflix premiere.

The boards looked like this:

I came into this topic thinking Fluxx, natch. There’s a lot to work with…

I’m thinking Keepers would be characters and elements from the host segments – the Mads, the Hosts, the Bots - and Creepers would be particularly infamous characters from the movies - Mr. B Natural, Hobgoblins, Munchie.

Yeah, the licensing would be a bear, but…

Well I hope it’s better than the Killer Shews board game.

Or less elaborate than the board game for The Unearthly.

[But there’s not going to be any topping the Patrick Swayze Road House board game.]

Well whatever. I get to be the shoe.

This, but I kind of want three hosts who have to speak in rhyme and escape through a Time Bag to win.

How about a game of “Watch out for Snakes & Ladders”.

And yes, I know it’s called Chutes & Ladders in the USA.

Not allowed to play that anymore since I took the pledge.

When a game’s player pieces are all shot glasses, I know I’m in trouble.

Snakes & Ladder is a superior name, IMO. And who wants to slide down a boring old chute when you could slide down a big friendly cartoon snake?
