So I purchased a Servo kit in the spring from Robert Bukoski aka MST3KBots on Etsy. Great kit, in the middle of painting now (still trying to find a suitable red since Testors is impossible to source apparently). But I also paid him for a Crow kit that he said he would get out to me as far back as July, but life happens and our last correspondence about it was in September. He did mention things were a bit hectic on his end, so I want to be as understanding as possible if he is dealing with some real-life stuff. But I did pay him for a kit I have yet to receive. So I’m just wondering if anyone knows him or has dealt with him in the past and if he’s ok.
I had nearly the exact same experience. He is very inconsistent with his communications. I too tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and was very forgiving after the first few assurances the he would get my Crow kit sent out to me as soon as possible. Finally I let him know how frustrated I was getting and he responded the next day and sent my kit out immediately. All in all it took me almost six months to finally receive my kit. The problem I have now is the link to the assembly instructions he sent doesn’t work for me. I tried reaching out to him but (surprise, surprise) no response. If anyone has access to Robert’s Crow T Robot instructions and are willing to share them with me I would greatly appreciate it!
Etsy requires sellers to ship and fulfill purchases within a 30-day window of time unless one of two things happen – either they clearly include the extended fulfillment time in the listing or they privately contact the buyer to work out the timing. Etsy’s pretty serious about upholding the policy, too.
Does Robert’s listing mention how long it takes him to ship kits? If not, and regardless of any messages the two of you swapped, it could be time to engage Etsy and bring them into the situation.
He finally reached out this week and provided tracking on my Crow kit. Should be here tomorrow. He said he was busy making bots for the show, which I did not follow up on. Do we know if he is involved in production in some capacity?
Anyway, Crow kit should arrive tomorrow. And my 4 year old is having a blast watching me paint my Tom Servo parts while also watching all the show intros from KTMA to current. The next generation is secure.
I have Bob’s Crow kit. However, the website he includes for instructions is no longer among the living. Anyone have a copy of the Crow instructions? Thanks!
Ahh that would explain it. I recently acquired a busted servo and the parts to repair him and have been fiending after a Crow, but this kit is never in stock. If the man is actually working on the show I completely get him not having the capacity to make extras for sale. I’ll be watching his etsy shop like a hawk for a restock until the end of my days, it seems.
The Crow kits are a lot more difficult for Bob to make, mostly because of the Tupperware floraliers. They’re much harder to source, unlike the gumball machines. I also expect that remaking the hockey face masks is a bit difficult.
