New theme song lyrics!

Like with every other version of the show, I feel compelled to learn the theme song. I’ve got most of the new lyrics, but there are two words/phrases I can’t make out…

TOM:
In the not too distant future

The evil Kinga Forrester
She ran her empire from the moon
Her latest plan was The Gizmoplex
A twisted scheme based on stolen specs

(Also, I love that Tom gets to sing and gets his moment to showboat in the spotlight. Thank you for that!)

Also the new theme is not human specific so it works for all three test subjects.
But wow the lyrics are the most changed from any previous version. It’s definitely going to take some getting used to.

But on the bright side, at least the last verse of the lyrics mostly stayed the same.

Seriously Baron Vaughn deserves massive cred for his performance here. Felicia Day too of course but – Baron just nails it.

A few bits of useless theme song trivia:

This is the first time post-KTMA the “the worst” line has been changed.

First time the host isn’t named (for obvious reasons).

First time one of the bots sings the theme.

Bot comments during the Robot Roll Call return (only Servo, though).

First ever change to the “MST3K Mantra” ("…how we eat and breathe…").

First time Kinga is called “evil”. Dr. F and Pearl before her were called “evil” in some versions of the song.

First time the name “GPC” is used.

First time post-KTMA that there is no mention of “monitor his mind”.

Not the song, per se, but this is the first time Cambot has appeared in the opening outside of the “Robot Roll Call”.

I guess we do not yet have confirmation that it is Baron, @Majorjoe23 .

But if it is not Baron, I will eat my hat. (My hat is just a virtual one, like a forum badge, so it’s actually not unpleasant to eat, but, still.)

I’m kind of hoping every character can have their own version to be seen throughout the season, especially since it feels a bit unfortunate that Jonah hasn’t gotten to sing his own version like Joel and Mike did. Plus, half of it is just Kinga and Max so that would cut down on how much work each one was.

Thank you! Once I read your posts, the lines clicked. The second in particular, my brain heard the “x” sound but kept getting stuck on that when I was trying to figure it out on my own.

It feels interesting that they’ve changed it the way they did. I also want to add that I rather enjoy the panorama visuals and such.

I just wish they had come up with a better rename than GPC. I’ve been using Mythril to preserve the cadence for the Robot Roll Call.

I’m actually wondering if that’s the plan, especially given how they introduced Tom at the start. And if it is, I definitely won’t mind given how many people in this cast can sing.

By the way, was that Joel’s voice introducing Servo singing the theme? Sounded like him.

Yup yup yup @imdwalrus – I have been testing Santo with captions, and I was chagrined to see the same thing. And here I was so happy to have been helpful!

I have to say – I still hear “prisoners out in space.” And, uh – prefer that?

But the captions are definitely, 100% correct! So let’s forget I ever even suggested “prisoners.” :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
