Obi-Wan Kenobi series content warning

Seriously. Like, we already knew he was turning evil, we didn’t need that to get the point. And then later Padme (after he literally tries to KILL HER) says “There’s good in him, I know it.” Lady, if you’d seen what we just saw, you’d be running your pregnant butt in the other direction

None of it makes sense from a character development standpoint, that’s for sure.

The arc was almost right, just badly handled. If Annakin, pissed by his initial rejection by the Jedi, developed his (clearly innate) powers to show them up and become a folk hero, the Jedi either have to win him over or neuter him (:scream:) and finding an ally in Palpatine, he learns both sides, mostly using Light (especially in public) but using Dark when he can’t get his way.

Now he’s an attractive bad boy, and you can see why Padme might be into him, especially if he’s going around fighting for the people. They have a torrid love affair—hardly anything about sand or hugging by the lake—but he’s going off the rails, deciding that continued injustice means he’s got to take more and more power on himself, leaning more and more heavily on Dark Side stuff.

Then finally she has to take a side against him, which is awkward considering she’s pregnant, and ultimately in pursuing her, he kills her he thinks. But of course he blames his enemies and goes full Order 66 which is what ol’ Palpy wanted all along.

Sometimes I think virtually anyone can write better than George Lucas.

All the big streaming releases this weekend ended up being accidentally more relevant than intended. (Except MST3K: Munchie, which was traumatizing in its own special way.)
