Opening of Openings

The opening Host Segment you immediately think of. Toothpick Monticello, Tom & Crow moving to the other side of the ship, Amnesia/Ambrosia and a big mallet. Is there a cold open you always found amusing?

It doesn’t get too much discussion because it’s from an episode that hasn’t been released to DVD or official streaming, but I love the “Previously on the Satellite of Love” opener from The Deadly Bees. It’s comprised of all these random disconnected scenes full of cliches and tropes, and it’s glorious.

That’s one of my favorites too, so much so that on my own copy I edited it to make the montage a cold open that leads into the opening theme, which plays more like the way I imagine those shows to be.

I absolutely adore this idea.

Here’s a sloppier version of it I uploaded to YouTube a long time ago, but it gets the idea across.

Toothpick Monticello is hilarious, too.

“Dog and Bear” is so dank and messed up, but it’s oh-so hilarious!
