They are suspended from above. Probably Popsicle sticks behind the paper.

It’s not a dumb question! They’re being pulled along from overhead now; if you go back and watch one of the newer streams there’s a black bar above each character’s head and you’ll see it block the Earth and stars as they go across the screen.

I think I initially got the impression that they were being done live, and maybe they were, but I suspect they’re pre-recorded at this point. When the countdown ends it looks like the video is resetting to the start, and when there’s been tech-issues and they’ve needed to restart a thing, it looks like they’re able to scroll back.

Now I see the name in the credits all the time, but when I first saw this on the livestream, I thought it was some temporary combo featuring Baron Vaughn and someone named Farid, or like an Alan Parson Project sort of naming. Guess it pays to watch spelling and refer to the forums!
