It feels like this show needs an MLA Handbook to navigate these sorts of issues and establish a generally accepted series of guidelines/standards for MST3K writing and documentation.
Sometimes MST3K improves the original language and, much as language has evolved over time, the new supplants the old. “Pilot Pete” to “Pile-on Pete” was basically MST3K’s Great Vowel Shift.
