Plug Them In... Plug Them In...

We’ve discussed altering movie plots in many threads lately. Here’s another. What character would you plug into to any movie plot and how would it change everything? Harry Callahan, Iron Man, Columbo, Wonder Woman, Frankenstein’s Monster, Dr. Emmett L. Brown, James Bond. Who is it? And what shifts?

  • H.B. “Toby” Halicki’s insurance adjuster/car thief character from Gone in 60 Seconds, with an appropriate vehicle with a large-bore engine, and snow tires, plugged into The Magnificent Ambersons.

There would be mayhem. And even more car talk about the dinner table among the survivors. There would be no sleigh rides following “the incident.”

  • Dennis Franz in varying levels of attire on Sesame Street as a lesson about “stranger danger” and “inside voices.”

  • Dexter Morgan plugged into Hitchcock’s Shadow of a Doubt. Uncle Charlie wouldn’t be whistling so much.

Yoda in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings or Hobbit Trilogy. His reverse speak, his comic relief, that Frank Oz delivery. Yoda would blow a hole into Middle Earth and it would be a sight to behold. A Gollum/Yoda conversation? Yoda and Lord Elrond talking back and forth? Yoda engaging the Hobbits? Gandalf and Yoda discussing life and existence? Saruman and Yoda facing off? The opportunities are endless.
