The Captains of my Heart

Five Favorites

Robert-Shaw-1-0a36c07 (2)

Captain Quint - my 14-year-old self’s favorite film and favorite character. He was a funny, crusty, drunken bad ass who sadly, met his match in the form of a great white called Bruce.

3e97551dbb3f757bc066c50cb195c7b1

Captain Kirk - Was their anyone cooler than Kirk? Maybe Spock, but Kirk punched and kissed his way through the galaxy, all while wantonly violating the prime directive, and that counts for something.

OIP (2)

Captain Marvel - at first, she was Ms. Marvel, and that was all alright, but then writer Kelly Sue Deconinck got her hands on her and turned her into a legend. With humor, strength, leadership, and compassion - Carol Danvers became one of my favorite superheroes.

Captain Joe Chôei (2)

Captain Joe Chôei - “Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha… Your stuck here!” Chipmunk cheeked Captain Joe has a haunted past, but between the hard drinking and the violent mood swings he has endeared himself to the intrepid crew of the Baccus 3.

alanhalejr (2)

Captain Jonas Grumby, aka “The Skipper” - He was Oliver Hardy to Gilligan’s Stan Laurel. Fearless in the face of danger, he managed keep his passengers alive, though stranded on deserted isle, he’s a big, happy guy with a hair trigger temper and a hat he’s not afraid to hit you with.

Honorable Mentions: Captain Hawkeye Pierce, Cap’n Crunch, Captain Kangaroo, Captain Malcolm Reynolds, Captain Ron, Captain Anne Bonny,

Oh, and…
