Hi guys, for those of you who own the Robot Monster 3D Blu Ray that came out last year, what can you tell me about this extra:
Side Streets of Hollywood: two short 3D rarities – Dance of the Blonde Slave’s Revenge and Madonna and Her Bubbles
I ask because a video review on YouTube mentioned that this was like some old burlesque thing and I want to know if it’s actually that, contains any nudity, how risque etc. but I can’t find any real answers in any other reviews I have looked at.
I ask because, like some of you, I take a measure of pride in introducing fun cheesy movies to others and Robot Monster is an all time favorite, but I really don’t want to lend out a movie to someone that has anything pornographic as a special feature. And as ludicrous as that might sound, I once bought a (probably bootlegged) dvd of I Was A Teenage Frankenstien off eBay that had a photo gallery as a bonus feature that had beefcake/cheesecake photos of the actors and actresses and did actually get into nudity as the gallery continued. So it does happen.
So, what does that special feature actually contain? Can you please help a guy out?
So in viewing or reading any reviews I can that mention the special features, most have nothing to say, one person described that feature as burlesque, another described it as “saucy.” I’m guessing it’s probably pretty tame overall (I’m assuming it’s gonna be like any one of those harem dance scenes they would always put into a Hercules movie), but I would still love actual confirmation before I drop the $30 on the BD.
I’ll see if I can find anyone who for sure owns it and PM them.
Hey all. I did back that Kickstarter. I can try and give that bonus feature a watch tonight and report back… for science. I will say that I doubt it will be risque but I’ll give it the ol Robot Monster try.
“Robot Monster” by “3-D Film Archive” - Bonus Features discussion:
“Dance of the Blonde Slaves Revenge” - Rated PG-13 for simulated drinking and simulated violence. Quite tame by today’s standards, opens with a woman chained by bracers to a wall. Her captor enters the scene, proceeds to overact his way into finishing his booze, and unchains the woman. They dance together, close but still quite tame overall. Decent enough dance routine. But then she finds her opening for freedom with using a knife on her captor.
“Madonna and her Bubbles” - Rated PG for brief kiss-fingers-touch-backside “too hot-tssss” motion, and that’s about it. I guess also for her outfit, but it’s fine. Short opens with her laying down, blowing some bubbles (that come at you in 3-D) and then she proceeds to stand up, do a spinny dance routine, then sit back down and have another bubble session. The end.
I found the “Dance” short more enjoyable, but they both barely held my attention. I’m sure for their original release date they were quite a sight, and the minimum 3D coming-at-the-audience moments were much more prevalent in “Dance”.
But for thoroughness, I did also check out the sequel(??) “Monster Robot Maniac Fun” and I can absolutely recommend it. 10/10. More people should know about this. Tell your grandma – just don’t get too close to her.
I really appreciate the info, I am glad to have it and now I can pick up the Blu ray and borrow it to friends confident I won’t be getting an earful later should any of their kids poke around with the special features unsupervised. Thanks again!
