Joel said The Cheesy Movie Circus would be his last time TOURING. Plenty of bands stop touring, but still record or do one-off shows. The Beatles being a notable example.

Just read the update. This statement Joel made towards the end really got to me:
My sincere thanks for all your enthusiastic support so far. We’ve got a hill to climb, but together I believe we can do it. MST3K has come back from low points before, and it’s always happened with the support of the community.

But even if he changed his mind, so what. As a fan of Bunuel, I’m glad he kept unretiring (this movie is my last… doodley doodley do… now, this movie will be my last. Only dying stopped him).
As a fan of Joel’s I hope he keeps going, even if it’s only on shorts, even if it’s riffing on trailers with Matt. Riff until you can’t riff no more.

The current state of things is between all of them, but my understanding is that there was some bad blood after the end of Cinematic Titanic (basically that Joel ended it unilaterally?), Mike has been historically upset that he was never more than staff (no producer credit), and some claims that Frank and Trace were invited back then uninvited to the revival or not offered a reasonable fee or something.
That said, they all seem to be on basically friendly terms these days, whether they want to participate directly or just give friendly shouts out to each others projects.

The main problem I see now is that if, against all odds, I’m correct some innocent soul on staff at Gizmonic is going to be accused of gossipping to the fans when it’s really just the Law of Averages or Monkeys Type Shakespeare Syndrome happening.
