The latest thing to come out of Japan…

Domino’s Japan pushes pickle love to the limit with new Pickles Pizza | SoraNews24 -Japan News-

Domino’s Pizza Japan has Pickle Pizza. That’s right - 1.32 pounds of pickles on each pizza.

The Japanese have weird taste. They put corn, mayonnaise or even fish & chips on pizzas there!!

Some may find it regrettable, but it really was delicious: Cuban sandwich pizza. It could probably have used more pickles.

I am not sure you could make anything Cuban-sandwich-inspired that I wouldn’t eat… but I’m sure someone would try

Kroger owns two of the big grocers out here (King Soopers and City Market) Not sure I’ve ever seen these though. I’ll have to look the next time I’m at the store.

Out here (SF Bay area) we’ve got Safeway, Luckys, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and some local chains. No Krogers for us :frowning: They own Ralphs, but the nearest one of those is in Oakland, which is WAY further than I will go for potato chips.

At this imaginary scale, they’re pretty much oyster crackers. But puffy oyster crackers which would be tough to spoon up and chew gracefully.

Whole Foods did a Cubano flavor of their house-brand (365). I think this kind of thing is more common these days. It was all right, but mostly just tasted like dill pickle chips with maybe a bit of smoke flavor (for the pork/ham).

And what is that brown stuff that looks exactly like vomit?

My real guess is either creamed chipped beef or a tuna version of same, but that looks more like vomit than funny rubber fake vomit does.

My thought was refried beans, but i don’t know if middle America was ready for refried beans in the 1950s

I love cucumbers/pickles and would love to give that pizza a try. Donatos has a spicy chicken pizza with pickles and I think the pickles are what make it really good!
