I genuinely and wholeheartedly like Wham’s “Last Christmas”, so I’m considering taking myself out of play right off the bat.
I said it back in 2021, and I say it here again in 2023: avoiding Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” would be more of a worthy challenge.
Truth be told… I don’t hate either of those songs on their merits.
I hate any song when I hear it 10,000 times, however. I would come to hate the song of the heavenly choir if I had to hear it every single place I went.
I have to hit the supermarket pharmacy today. Can’t wait to see if they couldn’t wait to start torturing us with Xmas-related aural bilge. 
I have the weekly grocery run on Friday. I expect to be eliminated early.
Refresh on the rules. This is just the Wham! version, right? Any covers don’t count?

I was at Walmart for over an hour on Saturday. I was so sure I was going to be sunk before the season really began, but I came out unscathed (well, unscathed by Wham).
Wham only. Covers/remixes/mashups don’t count.
Funny you should mention that… apparently there is a version of this for Mariah’s song. I want to say it’s called Mariahgeddon, but I may be wrong on that.
The judges would also have accepted Mimigeddon. 
Would it be appropriate to bump the Worst Song Ever thread or does that only encourage them? 
(There might’ve been a special one just for holiday attrocities, too. I can’t remember.)

I can’t believe it’s already time for this again. Maybe there’s a Whamageddon / Mariapocalypse booster shot I can get to improve my odds.
I haven’t heard it yet this year. I don’t mind the Wham! song, it’s the Mariapocalypse that bothers me.
I shall be participating, but I have never made it past December 4th. Two years ago I got taken out at 913am on December 1st!

I still think you should have a three-note grace period to dive out the window before it officially counts.
The one thing I thank these songs for is giving radio stations two more safely non-religious Christmas songs they can overplay that aren’t “Jingle Bell Rock” or that damn John Lennon song. It will be many years before I get as sick of Wham and Mariah as I did of those two.
I bet that their version of Jingle Bell Rock will be played a lot out of pity regarding today’s news.
