I’ve had that Port Charlotte whisky before - very nice, especially when it was discounted.

Trying out a new recipe for hot dog chili. I may be taking years off my life with this stuff, but at least they’re the ones at the end.

Traybake this evening

  • Parboiled Gwenne salad potatoes, sliced Echalion shallots, sausages (pork, Parmesan & truffle ones), salt, white pepper, sage, chives and Aleppo pepper.
  • Baked in a mixture of Iberico pork fat and smoked olive oil.
  • Topped with grated Parmesan for the last 5 minutes’ cooking.
  • Served with Marks & Spencer’s beetroot, apple and horseradish slaw on the side.

Not really “cooking” but I picked up a french onion focaccia bread at Trader Joe’s and baked it last night. It was very good but I’m paying for it today. I love the taste of onions but my gut does not like them at all.

Those were OK. Minor rant: why have potato chips and other kinds of snack crackers based on corn or potatos spiked in price? Over five dollars for a bag of cheetos or whatever? Yeah, my local grocery has a special on Kettle Chips: a bag for two dollars, pretty cheap, but I don’t always want those.

AND a magnum of Liberty Creek cabernet sauvignon. Which is so disgusting, I’m drinking it out of a giant glass mug (22 oz?) mixed with half water and a packet of electrolyte powder. I have to drink it all quickly, because I might have a random EtG test as early as Tuesday…one never knows!

That’s the discipline!

The answer to Part One is: Because they can. I’m glad I took that Economics Class in Junior High.

I’ve had to drop pretty much every bagged starchy snack I’ve ever loved, for medical reasons. You’d think that alone would improve the supply for everyone else, but I guess not. :man_shrugging:

Air-Friday Nachos:

(The Giant Gila Monster, but I think a number of different episodes would work just as well.)

I made roast beef for the second time with mashed potatoes and gravy and peas. I’m two for two with roast beef and, as before, lots of leftovers so I can have yummy roast beef sandwiches. I think I’ll have to make stew with biscuits one day for dinner and maybe spud omelet another day. I love meals that come with leftovers!

Lucky’s had a 5 for $5 sale last week, so I got some stew meat and am currently simmering some goulash.

Last night I tried a recipe for what was called Butter Chicken. Not the authentic version but really tasty and easy to make in my handy dandy pressure cooker.

My favorite aunt in North Dakota made her “monster cookies” when I was there last fall. I didn’t know that was a real thing! They look the same and I’ll bet just as yummy
