What's the worst TV reboot you've ever seen?

I’ll allow it.

Your use of that show in this thread, I mean, not the existence of that show.

It was ECW in name only. Real ECW left you feeling grimy and entertained. WWE ECW left you thinking about Vince can ruin something if he dedicates himself to that purpose. [gestures to NXT 2.0]

One version of the pilot had American versions of Rimmer, Lister and the Cat, played by Chris Eigeman, Craig Bierko, and Hinton Battle, but brought back Robert Llewellyn as Kryten. Jane Leeves of Frasier would have been Holly. The second pilot, kept Chris Eigeman as Rimmer, but changed Lister to be played by Anthony Fusco, and turned the Cat female, played by Terry Farrell of Star Trek DS9 and was much more animalistic and feral than either of the male Cats

Robert Llewellyn is a G, and Jane Leeves as Holly would be a solid casting choice, but… yikes.

I already brought this up in another thread.

Terrible then.

Appalling because of who’s in it now.

Also terrible:

Ick. I didn’t even know about that one. Must not have lasted long.

It’s still running. Was just renewed for another season.

Game shows are my primary obsession (MST3K is a secondary one), so I’ll point to what, in my book, is the single worst game show revival ever produced:

My_Family's_Got_Guts

I’m not sure where to begin, but it’s WAY worse then You Bet Your Life with Jay Leno.

Also, the 2019 Carmen Sandiego cartoon on Netflix. Judged entirely on its own merits, it’s probably fine as a kids spy action cartoon. Judged as a new Carmen Sandiego cartoon, I’ve taken to calling it CASINO, for CArmen Sandiego In Name Only.

New to this board BTW. Hope that’s OK. As you’ve probably already guessed, I was a kid in the 90s.

I haven’t seen it because it’s even more pointless than doing it with Malcolm McDowell. I assume it isn’t worth seeing.

To be fair, I never thought the original NXT was all that great either, but then the first episode I watched featured the Street Profits fighting The Mighty over a plastic cup.

I saw it, it was ok, not horrible, just, meh

Not being a Russian speaker, I don’t know if Project Popcorn was funny or not. But it was a bad enough idea being an unlicensed MST3K rip-off.

Oof… that would do it!

But yeah, the original NXT is a masterpiece of pro wrestling compared to what’s been happening there with 2.0.

You beat me to it. The reboot of Reboot was appalling. The original is clever, charming, engaging, actually fun for all ages, has brilliant character design, and is genuinely original. This sequel is everything wrong with handing a beloved property to a talentless douchebag who plans to “make it awesome”. If a proper sequel ever gets made, this aborted attempt should be retconned as a pirate copy of Mainframe that ended up trashed by hackers.

There was an American version of Coupling. Don’t. Just don’t. Stick the British original. It is hilarous.

Peter Lenkov did an amazing job bringing back a modern Hawai’i Five-0. The cast had great chemistry, the plots were tight. Great show. It’s one that is pretty much on constant rotation on my PLEX.

Sadly, his reboots of MacGyver and Magnum PI are bad. Magnum is slightly better than MacGyver, but neither holds a candle to the reboot of Five-0 much less the original shows.

I saw the pilot of the new Roswell. What a load of crap that was. The original premiered when I sarted college and filmed minutes away from my alma mater in Covina,CA.

The last season of Arrested D was bad as well.

Land of the Lost got a reboot in the early 90’s. I’m not sure why, since it was before Jurassic Park made dinosaurs super popular. The talking Sleestaks alone were enough to make me change the channel. I loved the original Land of the Lost as a kid, and it drove me nuts that there were no toys based on the show. The toy dinosaurs of the late 70’s and early 80’s were all of the cheap rubber variety, and not at all in scale with the action figures of the time.

But I’m sure the Russians invented it first!
