My favorite episode on here is probably The Leech Woman, but that was already released on DVD. As for episodes that have never been released at all, I think I have to give it to Rocketship X-M. It’s not the best episode on the list, far from it in fact. But its historical value is what makes it the obvious choice for me. The transition between seasons 1 and 2, the introduction of Frank and Kevin Murphy, Mike’s first on screen appearance, all of these elements make this an important and fascinating episode to watch. Maybe one day…
ROWSDAUER! It would be The Final Sacrifice, even though I would LOVE to have the Godzilla movies. But I live in Northeast Ohio, home of Larry Csonka, and I would be remiss if I did not request it
I see a few links to full episodes here… which brings to me the question - what’s MST3K and Shout Factory’s official stance right now on using these forums to “circulate the tapes”. Because, I have as of a few days ago, finally completed my complete collection of every episode available in the best quality I could find, and I’d like to share all of those “missing gems” with my fellow MSTies.
Would it be okay to upload those to a server and share those links with my friends here? Or is that forbidden?
[Edited by @Lesley to remove a link.]
As someone with a nearly complete collection I also feel this urge to help others and I’ll be interested in what the response is…
MOD HAT: I have asked what the official stance is on using forum resources in such a way. Please stand by.
Given these forums are officially affiliated with MST3K, I’m coming down with a hard no. We are continuously in the process of attempting to regain rights for these episodes, and if the folks who own them get wind of our allowing pirate copies to be traded on our forums, that would assuredly not do us any favors in trying to convince them we deserve to get those rights back.
Realistically, we know folks still trade files elsewhere, and we are not about to start tracking them down and demanding they stop! It just poses too many potential risks to allow it to happen here.
If you have linked to copies of episodes here, please remove your links asap. Thank you!
Soultaker. Because REUNIONS
Done. My apologies.
A very reasonable and reasoned response, thank you for the clarity.
Amazing Colossal Man, hands down. Best Joel/Bots interaction plus hilarious riffs. Also never been on DVD unlike many of these. Please, please, put this on dvd someday, won’t you?
“I’m HUGE!”
Attack of the the Eye Creatures (followed very closely by Deadly Bees and Riding with Death)
That, my friend, is all up to a woman named Susan (Hart) Nicholson. She also holds the rights to It Conquered the World, Terror from the Year 5000, I Was. Teenage Werewolf, and through a technicality on screenplay copyright also Attack of the Eye Creatures.
But there is a reason why none of these movies have seen a home media release, let alone the MST versions, and it all falls back in her.
Exactly. Any movie that has never been on DVD or streaming is because some rights holder has given a hard “no”, not due to any lack of interest by Shout Factory or Best Brains.
Somehow I’ve acquired most of these. What surprises me is that there are still a few I simply can’t find anywhere, which is weird since the internet is an amazing place.
At least I still have my Rhino VHS copy of Amazing Colossal Man and it won’t be leaving my collection until I get a DVD or better release. Worth digging up a copy of you can find it
I would give Godzilla vs. Megalon back to the world. Just an awesome episode.
Runner-Up: Soultaker. It’s an important episode.
@MichaelRobertson I’m not sure were you got your list, but you might want to update it. The following episodes are currently available for purchase:
- Space Travelers AND San Francisco International
- Teenage Crime Wave AND Agent for H.A.R.M.
- 12 To The Moon
- Girls Town AND Diabolik
- Colossus and the Headhunters
- Kitten With a Whip AND Revenge of the Creature
- The Incredible Melting Man AND Riding With Death
- The Mole People
- The Deadly Mantis
- The Thing That Couldn’t Die
- The Projected Man
FYI, here’s my “Master List” of all episodes, filtered down to the ones that Shout Factory/Alternaversal doesn’t currently have the rights to sell in any form. As far as I’m aware, it’s accurate (let me know if anything is wrong!):
As you can see, aside from 0K00 which was never released, and 0K03 which is the final lost episode, I have access to them all, in one form or another at least.
EDIT: UGH, that was a pain to have to replace all of those links that contained “X X X” with a Bit.ly link… I’m gonna go complain about it in the appropriate place to complain about the forums…
Nice list.
Minor correction in the post: Shout Factory shows Diabolik on the Girls Town DVD (#39) and not the 12 To The Moon one (#35).
Thanks, fixed, probably got messed up while I was trying to fix all those triple X links.
