The James Webb Space Telescope and other cool astronomy stuff!

Halley’s Comet is on its way back towards the inner solar system.

Just 13,738 days until perihelion! Unlike the dismal terrestrial observing conditions for the last pass — it was on the other side of the sun for literally the worst viewing in recorded history! — this time should be excellent.

Why am I thinking of this?

I’ll bear that in mind 13,738 days from now when I’ll be dead.

Actually, I might still be alive. I would be 83.

Yeah, 13,737 days from now is in July 2061. That’s about a month before me 85th birthday. Let me add it to my calendar.

Hmm… if I set my iPhone alarm now, will it work on my brain implant calendar in 2061?

Loved that book. I’m not sure why Clarke decided to go on to 3001. That wasn’t any good.

Ahem, anyway. I will be 80 years old when Halley returns.

I will be 90-ish. That’s doable.

There’s still a doozy of a line in it that I’m surprised doesn’t get more mention: “Supernovae are industrial accidents.”

Think about it…

I’ll be 103 - but who knows what advances in longevity there might be by then?

Well they’re only remains after you die. So wouldn’t they be 95 minus your death age?

Unless there’s something really interesting you want to tell us about yourself.

Time alive and time dead both count as to the overall age of the remains.
