Holy cow!
Wow. Just wow.
One of the things that is so amazing isn’t the image, but the fact that the pillar “arms” are 4-5 light years in length!
I saw that today at the conference. We were all gathered around one of the sponsor stations and geeking out about them. In fact, the Digistar rep quickly made a little program where he had the Spitzer image and then had the James Webb image superimposed over it. Soooooo cool!
Mana mana.
“My stomach itches”
“Why don’t you scratch it?”
“Eh, it would take 4 years.”
I see the Martians more than the Mana Mana guys.
Always my favorite Sesame Street characters, even as a child. I love the way their mouths move.
Look at this new view of the Pillars of Creation using the MIRI! It looks more like a hand reaching out.
To me, it looks more like ghosts attacking something.
I want that on a poster.
Proving it’s not just a pretty (cliff) face, but is actually producing results:
The James Webb is also taking a look at the Trappist system!
FYI - about a year ago right after the deployment of the mirrors etc, I changed the title of this thread to the “Six Months Waiting…” etc etc and I don’t have the power anymore to change it - any who does feel free to update with a new timelier title!
I changed it to “The James Webb Space Telescope and other cool astronomy stuff!”
