1114. At The Earth's Core (1976)

Just in case you’re not aware, RiffTrax has done the Cushing Doctor Who movies.

Watched this again yesterday. I enjoyed it a little more this time. Even the wedding had some goofy charm to it, though I wish it had gone a little faster.

I’m not troubled by the riff density, as usual for me. But I have to admit that I’m puzzled as to why there are so many food jokes about McClure. He’s not a hefty guy. Is it because he’s got such a noticeably wide mouth, like a male version of Julia Roberts? I’m kinda’ lost here.

I’m also not clear on why they wanted Cushing to use such a high, strained voice. But at least it helped make the C3PO riff on point.

Also, if you’re going to keep referencing food for almost ninety minutes, how is there not even one joke about the title being the latest Ben & Jerry’s flavor?! Tsk!

Belatedly accepting speculation as to what At The Earth’s Core ice cream would contain.

Chocolate shell coating over vanilla ice cream with caramel and walnuts, with either strawberry ice cream or maraschino cherries in the center.
