Lara Croft, of course. I prefer the classic version, and not (just) for the reasons you’re thinking…

Y.T. (Snow Crash)

Peggy Carter (MCU, especially the Agent Carter series)

peggy

She-Ra (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)

Thorn Harvestar (Bone comics)

I loved Spider-Friends, but wow were they a stupid super-team. All you had to do was get two of them close together and they’re disabled. Which happened pretty much every time.

The original film is my second-favorite movie of all time (only behind Jaws), but I dig the remake of Night of the Living Dead, too.

And their reinvention/reimagining of Barbara was inspired.

Barbara works in both movies because both movies are products of their time. The original 1960s one is a social commentary and the 1990s one updates the subtext.

Mmhmm.

And that’s what I like about Gaylen Ross’s portrayal of Fran in Romero’s original Dawn of the Dead, that we see an evolution of the character as she goes from being a TV producer to a helicopter-flying, zombie-fighting badass who’s handy with survival tactics.

Incidentally, I once wrote a song on acoustic guitar which had the chorus:

Zombies are eating my flesh.
Zombies are eating my flesh.
Zombies are eating my flesh.
Zombies are eating my flesh,
And it’s not been a very good day.

Sadly, I’ve lost the recording and mostly forgot how to play guitar.

Having completed Yes, Madam! and Royal Warriors on the Criterion Channel, I will gladly support the notion that Michelle BY GOD Yeoh is the freaking best.

I really loved Sheriff Chelo but lost track of the Palomar-verse for years. Then tried to restart and saw what they did to her and my other faves. Backed quietly but quickly away once more.

One I like who isn’t as well known, from radio and comics, The Flying Squirrel

Red Panda’s funny, feisty right-hand woman. I love how she punches a zombie’s eye out… literally! In the scene below…
