I think ‘cool babysitter’ covers it.
There is a dry wit and breezy authority to some of Emily’s riffing and some of her host segments thus far that remind me a lot of the early Mike seasons, before he got a bit more outright buffoonish later on. People don’t always recall it, but early Mike was a bit cool, brought food into the theater, etc. and didn’t care what Joel had done. I always loved that. (I don’t mind the later Mike at all, but I do think the host segment stuff with him got a bit too broad at times, just as I thought Sci-Fi Crow occasionally got a bit too mean.) I get the sense so far that Emily has more of a handle on the bots than either Jonah or Mike.
