Fictional Places

Where would you visit in make believe? Mordor, Hogwarts, Deep 13? What fake place would feel like home? Wakanda? Vulcan? The Satellite of Love? Anything come to mind?

Rivendell, probably, as long as I can get a burger.

I’ve always wanted to check out Badger’s house, it’s supposed to be crazy big!

I want to visit the Labyrinth, bum around the Goblin City for a while. Maybe ogle the ruler a little. Might give the Bog of Eternal Stench a pass, though.

Something of a meta-answer(?): The holodeck. Cuz now I can visit all the fun make-believe places.

Who wouldn’t want the Holodeck?

Badger’s House would be good… as a welcomed guest, of course. Or Bag End, or Tom Bombadil’s cottage.

The Mystery Science Theater would be on the list.

Can’t we get BEYOND Thunderdome?

Moomin Valley seems lovely (as long as you steer clear of The Groke).

The closest I’ve been to a fictional place was touring Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Even though it actually exists, it sure feels fictional, or at least unreal. I suppose it would be nice to visit Xanadu to see how the movie version

Citizen Kane – Orson Welles | The Film Guide

compares to the real version

To cite an observation, the holodeck would be humanity’s last invention.

My father had an older edition of this book and at some point, I bought this edition. It’s really fun if you enjoy imaginary places. It includes maps.

I also have this book, which includes fantasy maps-

And this old book, which is a terrific collection of fantasy maps from books.

I recommend all three. Highly.
