I remember listening to her on Piano Jazz on NPR.
I think I have 15-20 of her LPs. (Including the one pictured in that video link.) Once upon a time you could scoop 'em up for practically nothing. Now if I could just get the damn stereo fixed…
I hadn’t heard this song in years, but news of Steve Lawrence’s passing made me think of it. This song was from an Elliott Gould movie called Whiffs and the song (with music by George Barrie & lyrics by Sammy Cahn) was nominated for an Academy Award. It lost out to Keith Carradine’s “I’m Easy” that year (hmm, tough call, but I’ll allow it). Anyway, it got a little bit of radio airplay back then and even though, or perhaps, because it is so mushy, I’ve always had a soft spot for this song.
