That said, I’d love to see an actual restoration of this film. Like the other Russian films, I’m sure it’s stunning.

There was a remastered blu-ray released this year which looks really awesome. Sampo (Day The Earth Froze) also had a great release that features a really informative, hour-long interview with Mike!

617. The Sword and the Dragon (1956)

I haven’t seen a thread about this episode yet, but once I saw this news, I had to create one: Vinegar Syndrome’s partner label Deaf Crocodile is releasing THE SWORD AND THE DRAGON (a.k.a. Ilya Muromets) on Blu-ray this month??? [image] Some pretty interesting special features on this disc, along with some really rad cover art (as is usual). The distributor also has the rights to The Day The Earth Froze (Sampo) so that’s likely heading our way as well. Thoughts on this release? The film? …

422. The Day the Earth Froze (1959)

The Day The Earth Froze is coming to Blu-ray courtesy of Vinegar Syndrome’s partner label Deaf Crocodile in July, according to Dawn of the Discs on Twitter. It will likely be released under the name Sampo: To those unfamiliar with Vinegar Syndrome, they are essentially the Criterion Collection of genre/exploitation/obscure movies. Expect a really good remaster, in-depth supplements, a commentary track and awesomely great cover art.
