I think the garish colors in this one, and it being a good print, circumvented my “forced march” feelings. Also, the jokes were fairly light and “all-ages” throughout. Of course, the LIVE vibe helps with that, too.
Also, I’ll shamefully admit that while the film doesn’t make a lick of sense, there’s always something about claymation and miniatures which takes me back to the good parts of childhood and holds my attention. Along with the knowledge that such unstoppable weirdness would’ve rolled right off my back in childhood. Less so now. People put a lot of work into these visuals. It’s just sad that nobody did that regarding the plot. It felt either ad-libbed or maybe scribbled onto a couple of mid-sized Post-Its ten minutes before filming started.
