I love knowing that “Cool Like That” replaced another song that they thought would hit big but they didn’t have the rights to the clip it needed. And now apparently nobody remembers what the original surefire hit was supposed to be.

Can’t sneak this into the long part of the Long And Short thread. It’s a medley. But WHAT a medley. Everyone who wrote about Carroll (1925-2017) would say that she began as a Bop player and then subsumed that into a more laid-back, supper club style of playing. Sometimes they meant that as a compliment and sometimes not. Anyway, whatever. I love her. (The Bop seeds really burst into full bloom at 9:20 when she gets around to “Matchmaker.”)
