If you were going to make your own video game, what would it look like and how would it stand out from the pack?

Nothing original about this, but I think that we’re way past due a Lego Star Trek game series.
I would create a fighting game starring characters from other video games using their powers from their originals in a Mortal Combat style fight to the death. The sequel would be an RPG with those characters with various opponents as boss encounters.
I have two ideas. Both for relatively simple games:
• A game like Zuma, except instead of firing little colored balls, you fire letters to spell words.
• A video pinball game, except instead of a ball is a little man and all the bumpers are things like spikes and electric shocks and at the bottom is a pit of fire. Hellball.
